Dr David Appiah is a general dentist based in Manchester and the founder of a multi-disciplinary dental and wellness clinic. He also helps lead a business supporting dental nurses and a menstrual health brand, work that shares a single thread: improving health beyond the walls of one practice.
That starts with teams. David believes the care a patient receives is inseparable from how well the people delivering it are trained and supported, a link the evidence across healthcare bears out. Well-supported teams have the time, training and equipment to investigate a complaint properly, and to treat the person in front of them to a higher standard.
The other route is everyday products. One dentist can only reach the people who walk through the door. Sensitivity shows why that matters: it is among the most common concerns in practice, and most people assume it is simply something to live with. Supporting S3 meant backing a daily toothpaste built on evidence, one that calms, strengthens and protects rather than only partly addressing the issue.
